Some toxins are in our food & personal care products; others are in our habits & relationships. Dehydration should be avoided. Why? It disrupts essential functions like temperature regulation, nutrient processing, and joint lubrication. Even mild dehydration can cause headaches, fatigue, irritability, and reduced brain function, while chronic or severe cases can lead to serious complications:

  • Organ Stress: Heart works harder to pump blood, potentially causing high blood pressure, while kidneys struggle to remove waste, increasing risk of kidney stones. 

  • Electrolyte Imbalances: Loss of vital minerals like sodium & potassium may result in muscle cramps, dizziness, fainting, seizures, or shock. 

So, drink half your body weight in ounces per day (150 lb person = drink 75 oz); drink water regularly throughout the day, increasing intake during hot weather or exercise, & monitor urine color (should be pale yellow).

  • Mental and Physical Health: Sleep deprivation weakens the central nervous system and immune system, leading to reduced concentration, memory lapses, irritability, and a higher susceptibility to infections. 

  • Chronic Disease Risk: Consistently poor sleep is linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and obesity due to hormonal imbalances and increased insulin levels. 

  • Safety and Performance: Lack of rest impairs reaction times and decision-making, dramatically increasing the likelihood of accidents and errors in work or daily activities. 

So, go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, including weekends, to reinforce your body’s internal clock. Get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. Avoid caffeine & alcohol in the evening.

What would Volusia County Proposal 5 actually change?

Volusia County Charter Amendment 5 would establish a registry of conservation land. Under the proposed amendment, land placed on the registry could not be conveyed unless the County Council determines that the property is no longer needed for conservation purposes.

The proposal would also require a majority plus one vote of the entire County Council to add property to the registry or remove property from the registry for purposes of sale or transfer. The amendment **includes exceptions** (AKA – Loopholes!) for public purposes and takings through eminent domain.

Separation of church & state or God in the Constitution? South Carolina’s Constitution specifically acknowledges God (3 times), our Lord (3 times), and the Supreme Being (5 times). The people of SC are so “grateful to God for our liberties,” that they’ve included important qualifications for various offices:

Art 4, § 2. Qualifications of Governor. No person shall be eligible to the office of Governor who denies the existence of the Supreme Being

Art 6, § 2. Person denying existence of Supreme Being not to hold office. No person who denies the existence of the Supreme Being shall hold any office under this Constitution.
