God in the Louisiana Constitution

Separation of church & state or God in the Constitution? Louisiana’s Constitution specifically acknowledges Almighty God and our Blessings. It starts with “We, the people of Louisiana, grateful to Almighty God for the civil, political, economic, and religious liberties we enjoy, and desiring to protect individual rights to life, liberty, and property; afford opportunity for the fullest development of the individual; assure equality of rights; promote the health, safety, education, and welfare of the people; maintain a representative and orderly government; ensure domestic tranquility; provide for the common defense; and secure the blessings of freedom and justice to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution.”

Throwback Thursday: US v Morrison (2000)

Using the commerce clause as the constitutional basis, in 1994 Congress enacted the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which created a private cause of action that allowed victims of “gender-motivated violence” to sue in federal court. But in US v Morrison (2000), SCOTUS’s opinion was based on the fundamental premise that Congress lacks a general police power. SCOTUS clarified here that Congress may not regulate wholly INTRAstate non-economic activity regardless of its effects on interstate commerce. Further, SCOTUS held that “Gender-motivated crimes of violence are not, in any sense of the phrase, economic activity.” Thus, VAWA was held unconstitutional.

Term Limits in Name Only? S5E22

Term limits – Which offices have them? What are the terms limits? Many offices don’t have term limits – a politician can serve in that role as many terms as they’d like. Many other offices have Term Limits in Name Only. This is why we have a government full of bureaucrats and career politicians… What do we do about it?  The document referenced in today’s video can be found at https://restorefreedomkh.com/FLTermLimits

Wellness Wednesday #18

Some toxins to watch out for are in our food & others in our personal care products.  Homosalate is found in sunscreens, skincare, cosmetics, hair care, body care and certain hypnotic drugs. Why don’t you want Homosalate? Endocrine Disruption: It mimics estrogen, and impacts progesterone & androgen receptors, and is linked it to increased growth in human breast cancer cells (which multiply in response to estrogen). High Systemic Absorption: FDA studies show it is absorbed into the bloodstream after 1 use, reaching levels far exceeding safety thresholds (detected at 23.1 ng/mL vs the 0.5 ng/mL limit), and it lingers in the body for up to 21 days. Reproductive & Developmental Risks: It has been detected in human breast milk & placental tissues. It may suppress placental cell proliferation, potentially leading to pregnancy complications like intrauterine growth retardation. Enhanced Toxin Absorption: Homosalate can increase the skin’s permeability, enhancing the absorption of other harmful chemicals.

Good news for the “little guy”

Municipalities tend to think they can do whatever they want, however they want, and citizens can’t do anything about it. This citizen fought back, and held his ground even when court after court told him to kiss due process goodbye. The city cited Ishakis for failing to maintain his driveway, but they didn’t follow all the requirements of the law. In the end, he won in the Court of Appeals, his civil infraction judgment was vacated, and the civil infraction case was dismissed!
